Free Film Screening: Hvaldimir, Conversation with a Spy Whale

Bring your family and friends to enjoy the intriguing story of a beluga whale that was alleged to be a Russian military asset and became a social media sensation. Friday Harbor Film Festival’s Best of the Fest screening of Hvaldimir will be followed by a prerecorded Q&A with the directors, Jerôme Delafosse and Fabrice Schnöller and discussion of the film. The screening begins at 7 pm on Friday, September 12 at the SJI Library and Lopez Island Library.
Hvaldimir
In April 2019 a beluga whale that was alleged to be a secret Russian military asset appears in the far north of Norway and becomes a viral phenomenon on social media as Hvaldimir the Spy Whale. Everyone who crosses his path is fascinated by him. Among them are a French researcher specializing in cetacean communication and his daughter, a Norwegian journalist and a marine biologist, who have since embarked on an amazing adventure with him through the Norwegian fjords.
